Investment Director, Wouter Schuitemaker heads up the Business Birmingham team. Before joining Marketing Birmingham, Wouter led Asia Pacific operations at Think London, the official foreign direct investment (FDI) agency for the capital. Wouter was responsible for managing overseas offices in India and China as well as a delivery team in London and representatives in Australia, Japan and Korea. The Asia Pacific region constitutes the largest number of investments of any region into London, delivering almost 20% of all FDI into the UK.

Sarah Darch brings extensive experience of working at a senior level to the team in both the private and public sectors. She has worked with a host of organisations, from SME’s to large corporates across a diverse range of sectors, including Financial and Professional Services, ICT, Digital Media, Retail and the Public Sector.

Sarah’s first experience in the public sector began in the North West in 2004 where she was involved in major city regeneration and economic development projects. Sarah worked on the early stage development of MediaCityUK, and the proposed relocation of BBC departments from London to Salford Quays. She has specialised in inward investment since 2007, leading the Financial and Professional Services sector and North America programme for Manchester’s inward investment agency, MIDAS.

Martyn brings extensive knowledge of transport technologies and advanced manufacturing with a specific focus on the automotive sector to the Business Birmingham team.

Before joining Business Birmingham, Martyn was employed by Regional Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands, where he worked with major automotive companies in the Midlands. He played an instrumental role in helping the West Midland’s automotive industry gain recognition as the UK’s centre for automotive manufacturing and R&D.
