Birmingham city centre has three mainline stations: New Street, Snow Hill and Moor Street. Birmingham New Street Station lies in the heart of the city and is the hub of the UK rail network. The station has more direct connections than any station in Europe, dealing with 1,250 passenger trains per day. 

Birmingham New Street, Birmingham Moor Street and Birmingham International have direct connections to 84 towns and cities across the UK. 

Birmingham New Street train station

Over 140,000 people currently use Birmingham New Street every day, with over 40.1 million per year. Over 73% of station users are train passengers, equating to 29.2 million passengers every year. 

This makes Birmingham New Street the station with the highest footfall outside London. Currently, New Street handles about 80% of passengers travelling to, from or through Birmingham. 

Birmingham Moor Street train station 

Birmingham Moor Street currently serves over 2.3 million passengers per year, having undergone a renovation in recent years. The station has been partially restored to its original 1930’s condition. It won the Railway Heritage Trust award for 2004 and The Birmingham Civic Society's Renaissance Award for 2005.

Next to Birmingham International Airport, Birmingham International Railway Station serves both the National Exhibition Centre and the airport, with direct links to both and 250 departures a day, taking 9 minutes and leaving every 10 minutes. Birmingham International train station serves over 3.1 passengers each year.

The Capital: The fastest journey time to London Euston is 1 hour 21 minutes, with the Virgin Trains service from New Street, with trains every 20 minutes. Chiltern Railways is currently investing £250 million in line upgrades. This investment will cut the London Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill journey to 100 minutes.
