Birmingham is the number one destination for sporting action, home to more World and European events than any other UK city. From test cricket at Edgbaston to Speedway, home grown rugby talent and world-class ladies tennis with the AEGON Classic, Birmingham is leading the way as an inspiring sporting centre.

Whether it’s Aston Villa or Birmingham City playing host, there’s nearly always a top class premiership football game in town at the weekend. What’s more, Villa Park’s terrific stadium and state-of-the-art facilities will proudly be home to Olympic football in 2012.

Edgbaston Cricket Ground is known as England's most successful ground and has been home to test match cricket for over 100 years. A £30 million redevelopment of the cricket ground is currently underway. When completed in 2011 the stadium will seat an impressive 8,250 spectators.

Golf fans can pay a visit to the place where Ryder Cup history has been made a record four times; The Belfry. Visitors can walk in the footsteps of golfing legends at the Brabazon, the world renowned championship course.

Birmingham is also fast becoming the focal point of Britain’s athletics. Along with the NIA and the Alexander Stadium the city is home to the Brichfield Harriers, the UK’s premier athletics club. Birchfield Harriers have made history, producing 100 Olympic and Paralympic stars over the last 100 years and show no sign of slowing down.
