Future of graduate entrepreneurship to be debated at Council House

SUBSCRIBE TO RSSRSS

Senior business figures are invited to take part in a debate on the future of graduate entrepreneurship at Birmingham Council House at 5.30pm on Tuesday 8th March, hosted by the programme leaders from BSEEN – a scheme which supports employability and enterprise among recent graduates.

BSEEN, a collaboration between Aston University, Birmingham City University and University of Birmingham, and funded by Birmingham City Council’s Working Neighbourhoods Fund, has helped over 350 recent graduates and students to develop their enterprise skills and supported 90 to set up their own business with at least 30 new businesses created within the region.

The 17-month project is due to come to an end, but because of its success, the universities are keen to ensure BSEEN continues whilst alternative funding applications are submitted and processed.

Prof. Helen Higson - Aston University

Professor Helen Higson, Senior Pro-Vice Chancellor at Aston University, said:

BSEEN has helped to meet some of the key regional economic imperatives of retaining graduates in the region, increasing skill level of the workforce and increasing innovation and enterprise. Our event on 8th March is a dissemination event, where we explain the work we’ve carried out and then ask for thoughts and feedback from project stakeholders as well as members of the public.

We’re particularly interested in inviting along anyone who has experience of employing graduates or would like to facilitate graduate enterprise, so we can explore the future for entrepreneurs and enterprise.

For further information or to be added to the guest list for the event, please contact Cath Foster on 0121 204 3137. Alternatively, register online at futureofgraduateentrepreneurship.eventbrite.com.
