NEXT HEAD OF CHAMBER CALLS FOR UNITY IN PROMOTING BIRMINGHAM

The president in waiting of the Birmingham Chamber Group has called for an end to “turf wars” and closer unity between the city’s business groups to help get the region’s economy moving again... Gateley boss Michael Ward said: “It’s important that the Chamber and organisations like Marketing Birmingham, the IoD, the CBI and Birmingham Forward work closely with the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership and the city council... Meanwhile, the number of members on the chamber’s books fell by 174 in the financial year, to 2,909. Its new patrons are E.ON and National Express. Business Birmingham, the city’s official inward investment programme, has become a patron of the British American Business Council.

NEW PATRONS SWITCH ON TO THE CHAMBER GROUP

E.ON, one of the UK's leading energy companies employing around 12,000 people in the UK, and National Express, one of Birmingham's biggest employers, have become patrons of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. Business Birmingham, the city's official inward investment programme and part of Marketing Birmingham's destination marketing strategy has become a patron of the British American Business Council.

CUTTING-EDGE RESARCH FACILITY ON TRACK AT UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK

A state-of-the-art medical research facility being built by Rugby-based construction firm Stepnell at Warwick Medical School has reached roof level and is on course for completion in December 2011...
