Specialist/Research:

  • The college specialises in the course areas Business, Administration and Finance; Creative and Performing Arts; Information Technology (ICT); Early Years, Health and Social Care; Public Services, Tourism and Sport; Science and Technology and Utilities. 
  • The college caters for a wide range of people with different skills, abilities and backgrounds providing qualifications ranging from GCSEs, NVQs, A Levels, Access to HE, HNDs and Professional certificates.  
  • Education programmes span from Sixth Form (full-time 16-19 yrs) to Adult Learning (full-time and part-time courses for adults 19 yrs +) and MET training (delivering qualifications and training for companies). 
  • The centre for Adult Learning receives thousands of enrolments each year and has high success rates with many adult learners moving into higher education. The centre includes a department for Students with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities and a career development course in association with the Prince’s Trust.

Key Facts:

  • One of the largest training providers to the manufacturing industry within the West Midlands
  • It has recently been declared a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) in two curriculum areas, Integrated Manufacturing Technology and Management and Professional Services.

Campuses: 

A growing student population has led to considerable investment in the College’s specialist campuses over the last year. 

Sutton Coldfield Campus: The Sutton Coldfield campus is home to over 4000 16 -19 year old students and has recently undergone a multi million pound investment. 

Matthew Boulton Campus: The stylish and progressive Matthew Boulton Campus was awarded a  RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Further Education Design Excellence Awards in 2008. 

Additional campuses: James Watt, Castle Vale and Josiah Mason boast state-of-the-art facilities for vocational training courses along with the Language Centre and Erdington Skills Centre providing outstanding support for Birmingham Metropolitan College’s students.
