BIMwm shortlisted for national award

BIMwm – a provider of Building Information Modelling (BIM) across the West Midlands – has been shortlisted as a finalist at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and BIM4SME 2017 Awards.

Nominated in the Best Overall BIM Project category, BIMwm has been recognised for helping small and medium enterprises (SMEs) gain the right combination of skills, tools and experience to unlock the value, opportunities and business benefits of implementing the modelling process.

Staged for the third consecutive year, the RICS BIM4SME awards are an important milestone in the implementation of BIM in the construction industry. SMEs are the lifeblood of the sector and make up over 90% of the 300,000 construction companies in the UK.

Launched in 2016, BIMwm has been set up to help West Midlands construction firms get to grips with emerging BIM technology. It is the result of a partnership between the Black Country; Greater Birmingham & Solihull; and Coventry & Warwickshire Growth Hubs working as part of the West Midlands Combined Authority.

BIMwm’s entry for this year’s RICS BIM4SME awards focused on delivery plans to accelerate BIM skill-sets for SMEs across six key workstreams, including BIM Awareness, BIM object & data creation, Software Skills, 3D Modelling, data hosting and advanced technology.

The awards submission raised awareness of the significant opportunities that the digital media sector presents in promoting and marketing product and engineered designs, giving companies a real competitive and business advantage going forward.

The prestigious awards ceremony, which celebrates the skills and success of UK-based small and medium enterprises and their implementation of BIM, takes place on 12th September in London at HMS Belfast on the banks of the River Thames.
