Birmingham’s Food & Drink Scene Boosted With French Bistrot
Birmingham’s food and drink sector is thriving, creating more jobs in the city and providing more choice for locals, city workers and tourists.
Bistrot Pierre, the rapidly-expanding French restaurant group, created 40 new jobs when it opened the doors of its fifteenth bistrot on 1 July.
Situated in the heart of Birmingham’s historic canals, Bistrot Pierre serves authentic French dishes in a Grade II listed building – formally the headquarters of Worcester and Birmingham Canal Company.
Rob Beacham, co-owner for Bistrot Pierre said:
“We are thrilled to have boosted employment in the city; the food and drink economy in Birmingham is growing and we are really pleased to be contributing to this.
“It’s an exciting time for the city as it benefits from major regeneration, a new economic plan and a number of exciting new residential developments in the area.
“Since opening in July we have had a mix of locals, city workers, tourists and families coming to dine with us.
“Many of our customers have been really complimentary about our tasteful restoration and interior decoration of one of the city’s most influential buildings too.”
The Birmingham bistrot was the group’s third restaurant to open in just 12 months and will bring the total number of bistrots in the group to 15. The latest jobs boost brings the number of group-wide staff to more than 500.
“We’ve been serving authentic French food for more than two decades; we know we have an offering that works and we are always listening to feedback from our customers.
“As more investment is secured in Birmingham we knew this was the right time to bring our affordable French cooking to the city and we are looking forward to growing a loyal customer base in the city, much like we have with our other bistrots.”
Bistrot Pierre has grown from strength to strength after school friends Rob Beacham and John Whitehead set up the business more than 20 years ago, the pair have further plans to grow in 2016 and are working towards an opening in Weston-Super-Mare and Altrincham later in the year.
The privately-owned restaurant group currently has 14 other bistrots across the UK in Bath, Cardiff, Derby, Harrogate, Ilkley, Leicester, Leamington Spa, Newport, Nottingham, Sheffield, Stockton Heath, Stratford, Plymouth and Torquay.
