Browne Jacobson celebrates National Apprenticeship Week with new talent strategy

National law firm Browne Jacobson has announced its plans to shake up the way in which it recruits and develops its talent with the launch of two new apprenticeship programmes in March and September 2018.

The 100+ apprenticeship positions will be offered across the firm’s various offices and will see the firm invest 100% of its apprenticeship levy into the new programmes.

The ‘Career Boost’ programme, which launches this month, offers formal qualification opportunities to employees in their existing roles looking for further career development. Through this programme, the firm will be offering apprenticeships in business administration level 3 (a highly regarded professional standard, newly approved by government for delivery, equivalent to two A levels), team leader / supervisor level 3 (leading to CMI level 3 diploma in first line management), operations manager level 5 – (which will lead to CMI level 5 diploma in management & leadership), chartered manager degree level 6 and MBA (level 7).

In addition, the firm has developed the ‘Career Start’ programme which will be available from September 2018 in the firm’s Nottingham, Birmingham and Manchester offices and is aimed at external candidates and current employees who wish to develop their career pathway via apprenticeships. Two career start cohorts will be created: one of 12 business administration level 3 apprenticeships positions via an administration assistant role and one of 12 paralegal positions via a legal assistant role.  In the second year of the paralegal apprenticeship, participants will have the option to apply to join the firm’s solicitor apprenticeship scheme.
