Edge Testing Solutions appoints 10 new recruits for Midlands team
Company wants to improve digital skills in Midlands and exceed 250 employees by end of 2017.
Edge Testing Solutions, one of the UK’s fastest growing and largest independent software testing companies, has announced that ten new recruits, including nine trainee test analysts, have been appointed to support its recently launched, second UK Digital Test Hub in Birmingham.
The new trainees come from a variety of IT backgrounds, with some already having undertaken their ISTQB foundation course, the industry’s leading testing qualification.
All trainees are closely supervised and subject to an in-house software testing education programme that equips employees with both business and technical skills.
Edge has benefitted from the education gained by IT graduates from Midlands universities. Trainee test analyst Abdoulhamid Tastinesaib, who holds a BSc in Computing from the University of Wolverhampton, is now part of a team providing testing services for a leading retailer. While computer games degree graduates from Staffordshire University and Birmingham City University Christopher Lee and Arvin Parrenas put their analytics skills to test in their new roles for an online letting agency and contract caterers.
Jamie Hoey joined Edge having gained previous testing experience within the banking industry and was looking to further develop his knowledge of testing after some time spent travelling and working as a Financial Analyst. He says:
“Edge provides the perfect environment for me to fulfil my ambitions of developing my expertise and furthering my career. The array of experienced colleagues from different testing specialities, the impressive range of clientele accompanied with the thorough training we receive make Edge the perfect company to work for.”
Rohini Bhat joined the team with some testing experience and describes her time at Edge as positive:
“I am surrounded by people from a range of IT disciplines, and this together with the comprehensive training, flexibility and trust, makes the company stand out for me. We are encouraged to interact with clients, and this gives us an opportunity to really understand the projects we are working on.”
Rikki Miles previously worked for a logistics company, where he first discovered his interest in testing as a career. As part of his on-the-job training, he will be heading out to Brazil next month to work on a project for a global firm that is using Edge’s testing services. He comments:
“This is honestly the best job I’ve ever had. The support is phenomenal and with an open door policy we have access to all senior team members and feel valued.”
Nadia McKay, Testing Services Director at Edge Testing, added:
“We have found a wealth of talent in the Midlands region, and our growing Birmingham team provides a pool of testers to work on clients locally.
The first 10 recruits at the Birmingham DTH are part of our growth strategy, which will see us exceed 250 employees by the end of this year. Testing is a dynamic and challenging career for anyone interested in IT, and we encourage candidates with a positive attitude to learning new skills and a desire to improve software quality to approach us. With a number of companies looking for testing services, we are just beginning our quest to spearhead the growth of testing expertise in the Midlands region.”
Edge originally launched the DTH concept in 2013 in Bellshill, near Glasgow – the first of its kind in the UK. It was founded to meet requirements for a low cost, on demand testing service supplied within the UK. It operates as a challenger to the offshore model as it can be accessed easily by organisations looking for a remote testing service for their in-house applications and back office systems. The second Digital Test Hub opened this year in Birmingham, based on the success of the first one.
Now in its 10th year of trading Edge has seen growth year-on-year and boasts some of the UK’s premier testing thought leaders and experts in the industry.
