Flashsticks launch new language learning app
Innovation Birmingham Campus-based Flashsticks, creators of an innovative method of learning languages through the use of custom printed Post-It Notes, has launched the FlashAcademy mobile app.
The free-to-download app, which is available on both iTunes and Google Play, tracks progress and helps students and professionals learn a foreign language on-the-go.
Described as a ‘language school in your pocket’, the FlashAcademy app allows users to scan any object at random, recognise it and hear a native speaker translate it.
It also includes word games with content catered to different levels of ability, instructive flash cards and hundreds of five-minute lessons, each of which target a specific aspect of language learning.
Veejay Lingiah, CEO of FlashSticks, said:
“The FlashAcademy app makes learning a language easy, fun and accessible to everyone, by approaching languages beyond text-books and applying it real-world objects.
Technology facilitates so much in our everyday lives, it is key that innovative digital learning experiences such as this continue to be developed.
“With our quick and engaging lesson blocks making the app addictive, we are confident that the app will secure a place as one of the leading foreign language apps on the market.”
The app follows the company’s highly successful launch of FlashSticks Post-it® Notes, which are being used in homes and classrooms in the UK and abroad to enhance language learning, retention and application.
Richard Allen, Founder and Director of FlashSticks, said:
“As I struggled to learn Spanish, I remember pointing at things and having to ask whomever was passing by what it was. Then I thought, why not just take a picture and get an immediate answer?
That’s where our FlashAcademy Object Translator comes in handy, by providing immediate answers in an interactive way that engages the user.”
