Gusto Birmingham announces 60 new jobs

Leading contemporary Italian restaurant group Gusto is expanding its brand with the launch of its first restaurant in Birmingham next month. Today the company announced a recruitment drive for over 60 staff members.

The group, which is backed by Palatine Private Equity, has invested more than £1m in the restaurant and bar in Birmingham.

Refurbishment work is now well underway at the Grade II listed building to create the new 130-cover restaurant located within one of the Birmingham’s most iconic buildings – The Grand.

The refurbishment will see the building transformed, complete with an outside terrace to seat 40 people.

The recruitment drive will focus on those wanting a career in hospitality. It’s a unique chance for applicants to progress their career within a company listed in The Sunday Times Top 100 employers in hospitality.

Gusto offers excellent career progression and most of the company’s managers and board members have been promoted from within the company.

Gusto is looking for dynamic, ambitious individuals to fill various positions including chefs, servers, bartenders, hosts, bar backs and bussers.

To help with their continued success, Gusto will recruit 60 new team members for the Birmingham venue. Investing in people has fuelled Gusto’s success and forms the very foundation of the company.

Each member of the team is put through a rigorous training program and given the opportunity to become leaders in their respective fields.

Managing Director of Gusto, Sue Crimes said:

“It is crucial that we have a fantastic team at the heart of our Birmingham restaurant. We are looking for dedicated, committed and passionate people to join the Gusto team.

We thrive on giving our customers an exceptional experience and our team play the most critical part in delivering this.

“We’re on the hunt for wonderful people with sparkling personalities. If you can remain fun, friendly and calm under pressure then you’ll fit right in and will join our ever-growing family.

In return we will give you the tools to carve a career for yourself and do your job without even thinking. Our training is renowned and respected in the industry and beyond. We have expert teams to train you in every aspect of our company.”

Gusto has fourteen restaurants in Scotland and the north of England. Birmingham follows hot-on-the-heels of hugely successful openings for Gusto in Leamington Spa and Lytham.

The opening is part of an ambitious expansion that will see Gusto grow to a target portfolio of 26 restaurants within the next 4-5 years. Further Midland’s sites are currently being sought.
