J S Wright wins deal worth more than £1.7m for Birmingham tower
Birmingham building services provider J S Wright has secured a contract worth more than £1.7m to fit out a new 22-storey luxury apartment block in Birmingham city centre.
The award-winning company, which has its headquarters in Aston and offices in Bristol and London, will equip 189 apartments ranging from studios to one and two-bedroom flats in the first of two residential towers within the £40m Left Bank development.
J S Wright was chosen by Wates Construction as lead coordinator for the mechanical and electrical services for the building which will be constructed by Wates on behalf of Regal Property Group on a redundant car park site between Sheepcote Street and Oozells Way near Broad Street.
The services package for each apartment will include energy saving heat recovery ventilation, domestic water services, boosted cold water, wet risers and water sprinklers, as well as sanitary ware, soil and waste services and above-ground drainage.
In addition J S Wright will carry out a shell and core fit out of the ground floor to incorporate retail units for the development, which has been designed by architect Glancy Nicholls with bronze-toned metal cladding in recognition of the electroplating industry that grew up along Broad Street.
J S Wright, which is currently carrying out the enabling works for the £500m Paradise Birmingham redevelopment in the city centre, will begin work on site on the Left Bank scheme in April 2017 with completion scheduled for June 2018.
A UK market leader in fitting out tall buildings, J S Wright was responsible for the 26-storey Orion Building in Birmingham and is now working on Capital Towers, which includes a 34-storey apartment block in east London. It is about to start work on two brick apartment towers – one of which at 37 storeys will be Britain’s tallest – at the Keybridge scheme in south London.
Marcus Aniol, Managing Director of J S Wright, said:
“Having celebrated our 125th anniversary as a local company last year, we are delighted to be able to use our experience, skills and expertise to help regenerate Birmingham’s Broad Street as a vibrant area to live, work and shop.”
