Millennium Point to host Fuel Cell conference for third year

Eastside’s Millennium Point has been selected to host the 2016 Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Technical Conference for the third year running.

Organised by the University of Birmingham, the annual conference is the only UK technical platform that brings together industry researchers from across Europe to discuss the latest fuel cell and hydrogen developments.

Taking place from Wednesday 25th May to Thursday 26th May across a range of spaces within Millennium Point the conference themes will include fuel cells, hydrogen production, socio-economics, current fuel cell projects, and public outreach.

A centrepiece from the two day conference will be on display in Millennium Point’s Atrium and will feature vehicles from Toyota and Riversimple which will be demonstrated onsite. A range of fuel cell, materials and component companies will also be attending, including PI-KEM Ltd, FTI Ltd, Hart Materials Ltd and Bronkhorst UK Ltd.

The two-day event will also consist of discussions from keynote speakers, networking workshops, breakout and student sessions, and a conference dinner.

Neil Anderson, director of marketing, communications and events at Millennium Point, says:

“We are proud to show our support to the Fuel Cell & Hydrogen Technical Conference once again this year.

With all the changes that are taking place across the city, including the development of HS2, it’s great that we can bring influential industry leaders together to discuss key issues and trends that may affect Birmingham in the future.

“The conference allows us to attract visitors to the city and highlights our ethos of science, technology and learning further.”

Dr Aman Dhir, centre manager at the University of Birmingham’s chemical engineering department, adds:

“The conference has been extremely successful in previous years, and with transport links rapidly developing in the city, there’s no better time to highlight how the advancement of fuel cells are used to power transport, homes and businesses.”
