New property director for Edgbaston pub and hotel operator Peach

The Peach Pub Company, which runs The High Field gastropub and The High Field Town House in Edgbaston has appointed its first Property Director as its next step towards becoming a 22 strong, £35 million a year pub business.

Simon Bishop takes the reins in the newly created role, with a remit to source and acquire new properties that the award-winning independent pub company can make peachy.

He will also look after property matters for Peach’s 17 existing pubs and boutique hotel, The High Field Town House.

Simons brings over 20 years experience of buying and developing properties in the UK pub and leisure sectors to the Peach table, having worked with several key players in the industry as well as being an independent consultant.

A chartered surveyor by background, he was previously Acquisitions Director for Rank Leisure, where over a five year period he advised the group on buying sites for its leisure portfolios.

Before that, he spent eight years at Scottish & Newcastle Retail purchasing and developing sites for its managed pub and hotel divisions. He also worked for Whitbread in a similar role.

Simon will work alongside the senior Peach team to source and acquire new properties that fit nicely into the Peach stable, as Peach co-founder Hamish Stoddart explains.

“In Simon we have found an extremely experienced pair of hands with exceptional knowledge of the pub and leisure market, whose expertise and contacts will give us the edge in finding great places we can make peachy.

He’ll be able to open the doors to the great new pubs we’re after, and his arrival is perfectly timed; we have funding available to buy new pubs and are stepping up the pace to hit our next growth target.W

e want a couple of new pubs in the pipeline for early 2017 and are actively looking for more,” he says.

Simon is already looking for properties, whether leasehold, freehold, existing pubs or new leisure properties that Peach can take on and has a clearly defined target area.

“I’m on the hunt for properties we can develop into more fantastic Peach pubs and keen to look at any fitting the bill,” he says.

“Peach are great operators with a great product and a great way of working and I’m excited to be helping them become even more successful.”
