PwC shining a light on the fastest growing family businesses in the Midlands

PwC is calling on fast growing family businesses from across the Midlands to showcase their achievements in the Midlands Family Business Awards.

Sponsored by PwC, the Fastest Growing Family Business Award is one of 10 categories in the region’s only independent awards dedicated to celebrating and recognising the region’s family run and owned enterprises.

Established in 2010, the Midlands Family Business Awards are not-for-profit and free to enter for all Midlands-based family businesses. The Awards will launch on the 18th May 2016 at Derbyshire’s Donington Hall.

Chris Romans, partner and private business leader at PwC in the Midlands said:

“We’re pleased to support the fastest growing family business category again this year, as we believe it’s important to recognise the significant contribution family businesses make to the UK economy.

“We work with many family businesses in the region to help them grow and flourish, and from our experience, we know how well placed they are to deliver fast growth.

They have the agility and flexibility of being a private business, and their strong family values and passion can be a key driver in delivering sustainable growth. Often, other businesses can struggle to match those values that families can bring.

“Last year’s winners were Country Court Care, a family-run organisation that provides residential, dementia and nursing care in the UK.

They are a fantastic example of how a real demonstration of family values and involvement by different generations can deliver strong and sustainable growth.

“We know from talking regularly with family businesses across the Midlands, that there are many more examples of businesses with fantastic growth and family values. So we are calling for them to enter the Midlands Family Business Awards to shine a light on the great work they are doing.”

Now in their seventh year, the Awards are organised by their founder Nottingham insurance and financial solutions firm The Wilson Organisation, itself a third generation family business.

Since their launch in 2010, the Awards have raised over £20,000 for charities supporting young people and enterprise.

Charlotte Perkins, Group Managing Director, The Wilson Organisation, said:

“The Awards are a unique, independent, not-for-profit initiative in the region that recognise and celebrate the work and achievements of family owned businesses and their leaders.

Year-on-year, the Awards grow in strength, popularity and awareness – they bring together a network of 1000 family businesses that is also an incredible community of individuals and businesses all with one common goal – to raise awareness of the contribution the family business sector makes both in the Midlands and nationally, and to reward and acknowledge their work, successes and sustainability.

“As their organisers, we continue to strive to build on the Awards’ amazing legacy and incredible support, and this year is no exception with a number of new ideas and a simplified entry process, details of which will be unveiled at our launch.

“As a not-for-profit, independent set of Awards we are indebted to the support of our sponsors, without whom the Awards would simply not be possible.”
