#techbrum takes on Tech City with high-impact campaign

#techbrum event
Shoreditch Studios
July 2nd 2014

The first #techbrum event was a huge success. We had a great evening and were pleased to see such a good turn out from both the London and Birmingham scenes.

Our brilliant guest speakers demonstrated the purpose and drive behind #techbrum, and above all else highlighted the exciting projects, companies and initiatives currently happening in the city.

Special thanks goes to our fantastic caterers - Digbeth Dining Club and Purity Brewing Co - who gave a delicious insight into Birmingham's thriving food and drink scene.

Birmingham’s tech and creative scenes are thriving, and the combination of talent, infrastructure, community and connectivity create a brilliant alternative to the capital for tech companies seeking to expand or re-locate their operations.

These messages were voiced excellently by Pete, Tommy, Will, David, Nick and Gerald.  Additionally the Q&A session brought some important points to the surface, and some potential misconceptions about Birmingham’s tech cluster.

"With 40,000 graduates in tech per year, those hired in Birmingham are 2-3 job levels above those in London."
"There's a ready supply of talent for tech in Birmingham, with 40,000 grads, plentiful space and great quality of life."
"Brum has joined up organisations and a community ready to support start-ups and companies moving to the city."
"It's about half the cost to run a company in Birmingham than it is in London."

The TechBrum event was just one part of an extensive campaign, we are already working on bigger and better ways to promote what is an excellent community and ecosystem.
